You photograph the plate. zweitaps recognises what is on it, estimates the portions in grams and works out the calories. If you know better, you change the grams. Then save.

What does it cost?

Logging costs nothing. Search and barcode are always free. Only photo recognition costs us money per image: three images a day are on us, after that you pay with credits. 100 images €2.99, 500 images €9.99. No subscription, nothing expires, and if you never take a photo you never pay.

What is photo recognition?

Three ways in which zweitaps does the arithmetic for you: a photo of the plate, a photo of the nutrition label, and the microphone. With the microphone you simply say “two eggs and a slice of toast with butter”, and the lines appear in your diary.

Do I need an account?

No. Without an account everything stays on your device. If you want your entries on several devices, you create one in Settings: enter your e-mail, tap the link in the message, done. No password.

Why two taps?

Whatever you have eaten before sits at the top under “Recent”. Tap it, the amount is usually right already, done. Something new you find via search, barcode or photo.

How accurate is the estimate from a photo?

It is an estimate, not a laboratory. You see the grams and change them before you save. With a barcode the values come straight from the product.

Does it work without internet?

Logging and searching yes, the catalogue sits on the device. Photo, label and microphone need a connection, because the computing happens on our side.

Where is my data?

Without an account, only on your device. With an account, also on our own server in the EU so it is on every device. Photos stay on the device. You can delete both in Settings.

Is there an app?

For iPhone yes, on the App Store. Android is running as a closed test on Google Play. In the browser zweitaps works right now, and you can add the page to your home screen as an icon.
